Scratch Removal
We purchased this bonnet from the scrap yard to show further examples of what we can do. Please enlarge these pictures by clicking on them to see the damage.

We then set about adding scratches with an abrasive scourer. On modern paint work there is an undercoat, base coat and then a top clear coat. We can only remove scratches that do not go through to the base coat. These are light surface scratches, the type of which you get from bushes down country lanes.
We now used an abrasive compound to blend out the scratches. The scratches have penetrated the top clear coat of the paint work and haven’t gone through to the base or undercoat. Then we used a fine sponged mop head with a fine polishing compound to really polish and bring out the colour.

The next process is to polish and wax the bonnet. We have the choice of five different waxes and polishes and our valeters will find the best one to suit.
We would recommend the application of the paint sealant Silver Seal before the wax is applied as this will protect the paint much longer. In this case we would then apply a canubia wax over the top of the sealant to further enhance the shine.
The electric buffing/mopping of cars paint work is extremely skilled. Our valeters all have many years experience of this process and this is the one that gives the most satisfaction.
